The UK Teratology Information Service is a national service commissioned by Public Health England on behalf of UK Health Departments and hosted by Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.  We provide free, up-to-date evidence-based advice to NHS healthcare professionals regarding medications, chemicals, illicit drugs and alcohol that may pose a risk in pregnancy.  UKTIS attempts to follow up all enquiries made to the service to collect maternal and fetal outcome data following reported exposures.  This information contributes to future patient risk assessments and supports surveillance to determine the safety of medications and chemicals in pregnancy.

UKTIS is a non-profit organisation and does not provide payment for completion of pregnancy follow up forms and we ask that these are completed on a voluntary basis.  The only exception to this is where service support costs are negotiated for NIHR-portfolio adopted research studies.

We appreciate the workload involved in completing our forms and are grateful for the ongoing commitment enquirers have shown over the years to providing this information.
